All day Italian

Ristorante O'Pazzo Schouwburgplein

O’Pazzo is the 'All day Italian' of Rotterdam. An incredibly hospitable place inspired by the lively Italian energy that you find in the people of Naples. With a varied range of paninis, salads, bar bites, fresh pastas, wood-fired pizzas and beautiful organic meat and fish, it is O’Pazzo clock at any time of the day!

In the grey autumn period, we can all use some extra cosiness and warmth. Go on a date at O'Pazzo after work or in the weekend or join the whole family for a delicious meal.

We spoke with Niels Vaane from O'Pazzo about the Schouwburgplein location, located on the corner of the Kruiskade and Karel Doormanstraat, in our three-storey glass corner building.

Hi Niels, can you tell us something about the location 'Schouwburgplein' on Karel Doormanstraat?

"For the location on Karel Doormanstraat we deliberately chose the name Schouwburgplein so that people have a point of reference. It is a huge building but because of the corners in the halls it does not feel massive. Each room has its own character with an extra detail.

The location lends itself very well to the 'All Day Italian' concept. For every moment of the day we have something suitable on our extensive authentic menu, so for a business lunch to dinner with friends: there is always something tasty to find."

The impressive and unique pizza oven

What is the inspiration for the interior?

"The interior of O’Pazzo Schouwburgplein exudes Italian passion, with a mix of traditional elements and modern influences. The aim is to create a warm, intimate ambiance that reflects Italian culture and Neapolitan energy. By giving each room/space a separate theme that is linked to Italian culture, we have managed to create a certain warmth.

The inspiration also came from O’Pazzo Blaak, such as the hand-mosaic pizza oven. The theme of the pizza oven is the Vulcan God, who is the patron saint of everything that has to do with fire and baking. We also celebrate the annual day of Vulcan at the Schouwburgplein location with a special Pizza: Vulcanalia."

How did the menu come about?

"The menu is revised every spring and autumn by our experienced chef Jeroen Smits and plays on the season. Of course, classics such as saltimbocca, pasta carbonara and tiramisu cannot be missed."

What are you known for?

"O’Pazzo is really known for its bombastic appearance. The restaurant is a kind of museum where you discover something new every time you look around. We are also very well known for our good kitchen and pizzeria. Our traditional Neapolitan pizzas are a reason for many guests to drive a little further."
