Did you know that Pizza Beppe is the first restaurant in The Netherlands to be recognised by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana? With three locations in Rotterdam, one of which is in our building in the Westewagenstraat, they are blowing the minds of their customers. We sat down with Michel Schreuders, one of the men who made this concept a success.

Comfortable dining in a casual setting

All pizzas from Pizza Beppe are prepared in the authentic Neapolitan way and you can taste it! The dough is made fresh every day and matures for 48 hours before it is used to roll pizzas.

We sat at the table with Michel and tasted, among other things:
- Foccacia Deluxe with rosemary, basil, garlic, sea salt and olive oil;
- Pecorino with truffle honey paired with grissini sticks;
- Burrata;
- 4 Formaggi pizza with Fior di Latte mozzarella, Fontina, Gorgonzola, Grana Padano and black pepper;
- Vegan Tre: The La Nonna pizza with caramelised onion, mushrooms, spinach and olive oil;
- Pizza Nutella Bambini;
- Homemade Tiramisu.

The dishes are low-key, you can even eat most dishes with your hands. For example foccacia and pizza and even the nutella pizza for dessert. And the quality of the food is high. An ideal combination, both for young and old.

The interior looks modern and is very recognisable. In every Pizza Beppe you will find the same elements. Inside, you sit comfortably on the soft couches, at beautifully set tables. Deep blue and black and white alternate, of course as a contrast to the iconic Pizza Beppe pink.

At the back of the building in the Westewagenstraat you will find a large terrace on the water where you can enjoy a festive meal in peace. We sat with Michel on the waterfront. It is nice to experience a moment of relaxation in the middle of the centre of Rotterdam, especially when it is accompanied by good Italian food.

Three Rotterdam locations in less than a year

Pizza Beppe in the Westewagenstraat opened in December 2023. It was an immediate success. So much so that multiple locations were sought. For example, the location in the Van Oldenbarneveltstraat opened in June 2024 and the location in the Witte de Withstraat in July 2024.

More openings are planned, both in Rotterdam and other cities in the Netherlands. Before you know it, you can enjoy Neapolitan pizza at its best all across the country.

Michel isn't doing all of this by himself. He is a strong driving force behind Pizza Beppe. The master minds behind the concept are Patrick, Omar and Laurens. Together they are a successful team.

Good staff is half the job

The last few months Michel has been working hard to establish Pizza Beppe as a force to be reckoned with. To his relief, putting together a strong team went better than even he could have hoped. The service in the restaurant on Westewagenstraat is very good, there is laughter in between the hard work and the same formula applies to the other locations. Partially due to the right staff, this restaurant can continue to grow and expand.
