The zoo of the future

Jungle billboard of Diergaarde Blijdorp in collaboration with Manhave

At Rotterdam Central Station, a large shop window was recently transformed into a big jungle. We are proud to announce that there is currently a second wall in Rotterdam dedicated to Diergaarde Blijdorp, showing green leaves and wild animals. Manhave Vastgoed is the owner of the building The Lobby on the Kruiskade. We made a 40-metre-long façade available to the Rotterdam Zoo and the special transformation they are undergoing. If you walk along the Kruiskade, you will undoubtedly spot an immense billboard on which Diergaarde Blijdorp communicates its sustainable message.

Manhave Vastgoed and Diergaarde Blijdorp

The billboard at Rotterdam Central Station is over 16 meters, which is quite a big. The new jungle on the outside of The Lobby is no less than 40 meters long by 4.5 meters high. Or 170 square meters, if you want to get specific.

We offer the window of our redeveloped building to Diergaarde Blijdorp for free, to promote the new mission and vision. With this ‘jungle wall’ we not only give the zoo a stage, we also provide colour to the street. A win-win situation!

The transformation from a regular zoo to a nature restoration organisation is special and above all very important. Diergaarde Blijdorp wants to bring nature back to life, because the planet needs us. That is why they are not just a park that shows wild animals; they are actively committed to their survival. They fight for the preservation of biodiversity, the restoration of ecosystems and the promotion of sustainability.

Manhave is more than happy to support this goal!

The mission of Diergaarde Blijdorp

Diergaarde Blijdorp has a bold mission. A mission that we fully support and believe in.

"By 2050, we want to have played a key role in saving ten endangered animal and plant species. It is an ambitious goal, but with the support of people and organisations in Rotterdam and the Netherlands, we believe it is achievable." - Diergaarde Blijdorp

The Masterplan for 2050 has four important principles:

  • Stop the Loss: Preventing further extinction of species and destruction of habitats.
  • Reverse the Red: Restoring the population of endangered species and ecosystems.
  • Brighten the Blue: Restoring and protecting marine environments.
  • Expand the Green: Expanding natural areas and improving connectivity.

Icons amongst one another

Did you know that the current location of Diergaarde Blijdorp is not the place where the zoo was originally founded? The Diergaardesingel in the heart of the city centre is a reminder of the place where the zoo was located before 14 May 1940.

The Diergaardsesingel is really close to our office and one of the first places where we participated in the reconstruction of the city centre. All the more reason to work together with Diergaarde Blijdorp and make a billboard available for this important mission aimed at a better future.

In the coming period, visitors of the shops on the Kruiskade and people who find themselves in this street can become acquainted with the message of Diergaarde Blijdorp. There is also the possibility to contribute to the global fight for species conservation and nature restoration via a QR code. A nice thing to do around the holidays, if you ask us!

It is also possible to contribute to the zoo's mission by visiting the zoo or by making a digital donation on their website.

We at Manhave would like to thank not only Diergaarde Blijdorp, but also SIZO and Caesar for the screens and outdoor advertising, especially because they were able to get everything done so quickly during this busy festive month.
